The Pages I Once Hid

The journals of a little girl who didn't yet have the words for what she was living through.

"Some stories begin with words. Mine began with drawings."

For years, I kept these journals hidden.

Not because I was ashamed of my drawings...

But because I was ashamed of the pain behind them.

I wrote these pages when I was a child.

I didn't know what trauma was. I didn't know why I felt so alone, so afraid, or so responsible for protecting everyone around me. I only knew that I couldn't find the words, so I drew what I felt.

These drawings aren't who I am.

They are a snapshot of who I was while trying to survive.

Today, I share them for one reason.

Because somewhere, another child... another teenager... another adult may still be hiding their own journal, believing no one could ever understand.

I want you to know this:

The person who filled these pages with pain is the same person writing these words today.

Healing didn't happen overnight.

But it happened.

If these pages remind you of your own story, I hope they also remind you that your story doesn't end where your pain begins.

You are not alone.

For years, these pages remained hidden. Today, I share them not to relive my past, but to remind someone else that healing is possible.

The handwriting has been intentionally blurred to protect the private thoughts of the child who wrote these pages.
