There comes a moment in life when you realize you've spent far too much time waiting.
Waiting to be appreciated.
Waiting to be seen.
Waiting to be heard.
Waiting for someone to believe in you.
Waiting for someone to tell you that you are enough.
For a long time, that was me.
I believed that if I worked harder, loved deeper, sacrificed more, or stayed quieter, someone would finally choose me. I thought my worth depended on how others saw me.
Then life changed.
My marriage ended, and with it came heartbreak, questions, disappointment, and a pain I never imagined I would have to carry.
At first, I wondered why.
Then I wondered what was wrong with me.
Eventually, I stopped asking those questions.
Because I realized something that changed my life forever.
People do not define who I am.
Their opinions do not determine my value.
Their choices do not erase my purpose.
God had already decided who I was long before anyone had the chance to question my worth.
That realization gave me the courage to stop waiting for someone else to choose me.
Instead, I chose healing.
I chose therapy when I needed help.
I chose long walks when my heart was heavy.
I chose the gym instead of letting my anger control me.
I chose forgiveness instead of revenge.
I chose faith instead of fear.
Most importantly, I chose to trust God, even when I couldn't understand His plan.
Looking back now, I can honestly thank God for every person who entered my life.
Some came to love me.
Some came to challenge me.
Some came to teach me lessons I never wanted to learn.
Every single one helped shape the woman I am becoming.
Today, I understand something I wish I had known years ago.
You don't have to spend your life trying to convince people that you matter.
You already do.
That is why I created this space.
Not to relive my pain.
Not to gain sympathy.
Not to prove anyone wrong.
I created it because I know what it feels like to believe no one sees you.
I know what it feels like to think your voice doesn't matter.
I know what it feels like to wonder if anyone appreciates the love, effort, and kindness you give so freely.
If you are reading this today, I want you to know something.
I see you.
God sees you.
Your story matters.
Your life matters.
Your dreams matter.
Even if people laugh at your dreams...
Even if they tell you that you're not capable...
Even if they overlook your gifts...
Even if they make you feel invisible...
Do not let their opinion become your identity.
You were never created to live according to someone else's expectations.
You were created with purpose.
If God has placed something in your heart that feels bigger than you, don't settle because someone else can't see it yet.
Believe in yourself.
Keep learning.
Keep growing.
Keep showing up.
Keep praying.
Keep walking forward, even when no one applauds you.
One day, the same people who doubted you may finally understand.
Or maybe they never will.
Either way, your purpose remains the same.
I no longer want to shrink so others can feel comfortable.
I no longer want to settle for less than what God has called me to do.
I want to make a difference.
If my story helps even one person feel seen, heard, valued, or loved again, then every difficult season I have walked through has been worth it.
This is bigger than me now.
This is for every person who has ever felt invisible.
For every person who has questioned their worth.
For every dreamer who has been told they aren't enough.
For every heart that has been broken but refuses to stop believing.
You are stronger than you know.
You are loved more than you realize.
And your past does not decide your future.
Thank you, God, for every lesson, every blessing, every closed door, and every new beginning. Thank You for reminding me that my identity is found in You, not in the opinions of others.
Today, I stop waiting for someone else to choose me.
Today, I choose the life God has already prepared for me.
And I pray you choose yours too.
